Emma & Craig’s wedding at Balmakewan Farm

weddings

Emma & Craig got married at the lovely Balmakewan farm, near Laurencekirk, it is such a beautiful area.  The weather looked a bit ominous as i was driving out but there was only two wee showers the whole day ( a good summer’s day in Scotland!)  Let’s start with Emma’s dress- GORGEOUS!  I just loved it!  It was a very pretty beaded,  1920′s inspired Jenny Packham dress.  I did tell her i was jealous and wanted to wear it.  She looked beautiful in it and the fit was perfect, her bum got some appreciation later in the evening by her […]

Janet & Mitchell’s vintage/DIY/registrar/village hall/BBQ wedding!

weddings

Janet & Mitchell had an EPIC wedding and i wouldn’t have expected anything different!  Janet & Mitchell are very creative people, well Janet more so….!  She is a crafting expert, check out her facebook page Heart art Aberdeen to see all her gorgeous hand made bits and pieces.  I met up with them a year before their wedding date and Janet was sitting crocheting blankets for the big day.  Pretty much everything was home made, all the cushions and chair covers included! So where to begin….  At Marischal college.  I had never been there for a ceremony and i was […]

Craig & Emma’s pre wedding shoot at Balmakewan farm

Pre-Wedding

I first met Emma & Craig at the YWE show (Aberdeen’s biggest wedding exhibition) in January 2014.  I remember the moment they came over as i had just been at a cocktail stand and had just drank a cheeky shot of a gin cocktail…One perk of being situated next to 10 Dollar Shake.  I think it went to my head but fortunately Emma & Craig’s free glass of prosecco had also went to their heads so we were on the same wavelength!  I should add it was the end of the last day…I wasn’t taking advantage of free gin all […]

Donna & Rae’s wedding at Coos Cathedral, Aboyne

weddings

Donna & Rae’s wedding at the Coo’s cathedral was so pretty, they made so much themselves, from the twine lanterns hanging from the ceiling to the paper flowers that must have taken hours of patience, i think it was worth all the effort and who knew green apples would look so awesome as name tag holders?! I had a few weddings ‘firsts’ at Rae & Donna’s Wedding…Rae decided to take Donna’s surname!  I’m not sure who decided women should take on their new husband’s name but i did find it refreshing that they decided to go against tradition and mix […]

Rebecca & Charlie’s wedding at Logie Country House

weddings

Oh Logie Country House, you are so pretty!  What a venue for a wedding, i can see why Rebecca & Charlie knew they wanted to get married there, i would definitely make use of the  outdoor hot tub if i was a guest at a Logie wedding….Perhaps with a glass…. no, a bottle of prosecco! I think Rebecca and Charlie  did an awesome job planning their wedding considering they were travelling for 6 months not long before it!  Every room i went in to had something thoughtful in it, from lovely framed poems to a personalised jenga area and a […]

Donna & Rae’s pre wedding shoot at Footdee

Pre-Wedding

I met up with Donna & Rae on a bonnie but cauld day doon at Fitty, oh fit rare! (i felt like writing in an aberdonian accent for a bit) I know Donna & Rae so knew it would be a fun shoot, when i say fun, i mean Rae being awkward and me and Donna laughing at him…. It really was fun.  As with most couples on their pre wedding shoot, Rae and Donna got more relaxed as the shoot went on, when Rae asked how the photos looked, i replied ‘They look just like you guys hanging out’, […]

Charlie & Rebecca’s pre wedding shoot at Drum Castle

Pre-Wedding

Charlie & Rebecca are getting married at Logie Country House on Saturday!  I met up with them last month for a pre wedding shoot at Drum Castle, it was my first pre wedding shoot there, it is so pretty, i have no idea why i’m not there more often.  We really are spoiled for choice when it comes to castles in Aberdeenshire! It was great to catch up with Charlie and Rebecca as they had been away for months travelling the world, i love hearing about peoples travel experiences, i was so envious they went to Japan.  I would love […]

Ailish & Jordan’s wedding at Kingdom Hall & Norwood House Hotel

weddings

Ailish & Jordan got married in February.   I enjoyed photographing their wedding so much!  The day started with the bridal prep, as you can see from the photographs i was quite taken with Brodie the Scottie dog, he had so much personality and the most adorable face!  I have a lot more pics of him but the morning really was all about Ailish so i didn’t want to put to many Brodie pics on the blog!  When i first met Ailish i was really impressed that she knew a bit about photography, she showed me some pics she loved and […]

Maternal Health India

Uncategorized

The second part of my India trip was photographing maternal health. I was photographing maternal health for Immpact, a global research initiative for the evaluation of maternal and newborn health intervention strategies in developing countries.  Immpact’s mission is to conduct excellent and innovative research to inform and influence policy, governance and practice, improve quality of care and strengthen capacity for maternal and child health in low and middle income countries.  I have also photographed maternal health in Malawi for Immpact, who are based at Aberdeen University.  The Malawi images can be found here:  http://donnamurrayphotography.com/khuwi-maternity-clinic-malawi/ & http://donnamurrayphotography.com/bwaila-maternity-unit-malawi/ In total i visited six […]

India Trip: The golden triangle tour & Holi

Uncategorized

I have been pretty quiet with my blogging recently, mainly because i was in India!  I have always wanted to go to India, seeing the Taj Mahal was quite high up on my bucket list, i don’t actually have a list written down, it’s more of a mental list (next one on the list is to find a fossil!) I timed my trip to India with some charity work by photographing maternal health for IMMPACT, those images will be blogged soon. I joined a tour as i was apprehensive about getting around on my own, especially as i had my […]
