FAQs

Got a question?

Find the answers you need.

How do you deal with wet weddings?

I find there is usually a 5-10 minute dry spell on a wet day or if it rains all day you get an amazing evening/sunset.  I just go with the flow.  It it’s pouring,I understand if you don’t want to go outside, if there is drizzle, you can stick up a brolly and shelter under trees/doorways.  Make the rain part of your day, it is Scotland afterall!

Do we meet up?

I am more than happy to organise a date to meet up for an informal chat.  I much prefer to get to know a couple a wee bit before photographing their wedding day.

How do we secure a booking with you?

I require a £400 deposit, this secures your date.

What happens if you are sick or can’t do our wedding?

I am in a group of full of awesome wedding photographers from all over Scotland, everyone helps each other out and I feel confident I could supply great cover at short notice.

Are you insured?

Of course!  I have insurance which covers liability, professional indemnity and my equipment.

When do we recieve our USB stick?

You will receive your USB stick 6-8 weeks after your wedding date.

You will get a link to view your wedding gallery that you can share with family and friends.  There is the option to purchase from the gallery.

Do we get the digital files?

I supply all edited images on a USB stick for your own printing.  The images are around 6/7 MB and can be printed to a large scale, they do not have any watermarks on them.  I also supply a number of images in black and white.

What about albums?

Albums can be purchased after your wedding.  I like to make albums with clean layouts so they won’t look dated in years to come.  You can also add parent albums, these are exact mini replicas of the main album.  You get to choose album cover type and colour and I’ll make up a first draft and send it over for you to check over, you can make amendments until you are happy.  Albums can be ordered straight after your wedding or you can get in touch a year or two after!  I’ll send over a link with samples to view.

How many photographs do we get?

This depends on number of guests and how much coverage.  If you had between 70-100 guests and full day coverage you would get no less than 600 images.  I can send over full galleries for you to look at before booking.

How many group photos do you take?

I don’t think your wedding day should be about standing in a line forcing a smile then getting stressed when someone has nipped to the bar or walked miles away to get signal to find out the football results…. (true story!)  I recommend around 10 group photos.  I prefer to get natural shots of everyone enjoying themselves!

How long do the couple photos take on the wedding day?

I recommend around 30 minutes to get some lovely Couple photos then back to the party! I often ask if you would like to come out for 5-10 mins to get some portraits in different light before I go.  I adore golden hour!

Where do you travel/what are your travel costs?

I love photographing weddings at different venues all over Scotland and beyond!   If you are having your wedding abroad get in touch and we can chat. If your wedding is within 100 miles of Aberdeen and you want full day coverage there is no extra fee.  I’m happy to discuss travel costs and to try and fit them into your budget if your wedding is further afield.

What equipment do you have?

I shoot with two Nikon cameras and have a collection of lenses.

What is a pre wedding shoot/where do we go and what do we wear?

A pre wedding shoot is a great opportunity for us to get to know each better, for me to see how much help you need to try and feel natural in front of the camera and for you both to see how I work.  It can be added onto your package, the is cost £350.  It includes an hour shoot to a location of your choice within a 25 miles of AB32. The images are high res with no watermark and are supplied on a gallery that you can download.

I Have loads of suggestions for pre wedding shoot locations and am happy to help you choose.  If you have a favourite walk/castle/place that you go together it can be lovely to get some shots there.  If you have a dog take it along!  If you have children take them along too!  As for clothing, it does depend on the location.  I love a pop of colour in a forest, if you wear green you will disappear!  Busy patterns can be distracting and if it’s a windy day, don’t wear a floaty dress as you will spend the whole shoot holding it down!

How long do you stay at a wedding?

I arrive 2.5 to 3  hours before the ceremony, I find this is the perfect amount of time to photograph all the details and the pre ceremony build up.  I stay up until 5 dances just before it starts to get messy!

Do you have a second shooter?

I can photograph a wedding with up to 120 people on my own no problem.  If you having  more guests I suggest adding a second shooter to your package, the cost £300. for full day and £250 morning prep to speeches. I have a variety of photographers I use for second shooting, a lot of them are wedding photographers so they are confident shooters. The second shooter is organised 1/2 months before your wedding date, depending on the availability of my contacts.
