Aberdeen photographers: I’m a bit of an Aurora geek, i have alerts on my mobile phone to let me know when there is a good chance of seeing them so occasionally when alerts are over 6/7 meaning the solar storm is powerful i will go out for a drive late at night with my fingers crossed that they will be on show. So when it was all over the news on the 9th of January that the conditions were perfect and there was solar activity i drove up to Cairn O Mount in Aberdeen shire and patiently waited along with about 40 other people! We all sat freezing, patiently waiting for a glimpse but it wasn’t meant to be. I left at about 2 am, the activity was strong but it didn’t quite reach as far down as the UK. I still managed to get a lovely image of a man who walked up to the peak, stopped for a wee while then walked back down.
